Many of our patients want to know, “Do I need sedation for dental implant surgery? As with any medical procedure, we recommend that you do use sedation dentistry when having dental implant surgery. Sedation dentistry helps the process to go smoothly while preventing you from feeling the discomfort.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a permanent, realistic-looking option to solve missing teeth and maintain your jaw and mouth health. Since the implant will bond with your jaw bone and can function and appear like a natural tooth.

They have several advantages:

  • Help protect your jawbone from deterioration
  • They function just like your natural teeth
  • This allows you to continue your oral hygiene routine, such as flossing, and keep your mouth healthy.
What are dental implants made of ?

Implants are made of three components:

  • Implant: The titanium that is surgically embedded into the jawbone of a patient and serves as a root for the crown.
  • Abutment: The abutment is fastened to the implant and holds the crown.
  • Crown: The crown is a ceramic false tooth that is mounted atop the abutment and provides the look and function of a natural tooth.
